Controllers - also referred to as "timers" - allow you to automate your irrigation system by turning the water on and off on a schedule. All controllers connect to a valve. Some controllers come pre-installed on a valve or include a valve within their housing - like most hose-end controllers - while others are standalone and require that the valves be purchased separately.
